COUNTING CROWS

MARCH 2009

As part of their Australian tour with The Who in March 2009, the Counting Crows played three solo shows, two in Melbourne and one in Sydney. Andrew McManus presented this must see live show at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on Friday March 27 and Monday March 30 and at Big Top, Luna Park in Sydney on Thursday March 30.

At the March 27 show, the Counting Crows were be supported by the Versus - Ella and Jesse Hooper (ex Killing Heidi)’s new band. At the March 30 and April 2 shows, they were supported by Australian singer/songwriter Clint Crighton.

Headed by the enigmatic Adam Duritz, the seven-piece San Francisco Bay area band last played in Australia in 2004, but after a few dates the tour was cancelled due to the death of Duritz’s grandmother.

Counting Crows hail from the San Francisco Bay area and consist of Adam Duritz (vocals), David Bryson (guitar), Charles Gillingham (keyboards), Dan Vickrey (guitar), Jim Bogios (drums), David Immergluck (guitar) and touring bassist Millard Powers.

Counting Crows became a global phenomenon after the release of their 1994 debut album ‘August And Everything After’ produced by T-Bone Burnette which featuring the smash hit single ‘Mr Jones’. The band went on to sell more than 20 million albums worldwide across their career.

Counting Crows have always been renowned for their energetic, passionate live performances, where Duritz often rewrites songs or verses live, always looking for a new spontaneity. The three shows did not disappoint - fans were thrilled!
