JACKSON BROWNE
MARCH 2009
Music legend Jackson Browne returned to Australia with his full band in March 2009. Andrew McManus was proud to present one of music’s most influential songwriters, Jackson Browne, with Toni Childs, Richard Clapton and Tim Freedman.
JACKSON BROWNE has been described as the ultimate LA singer-songwriter. Over the course of three decades, he has continued to write and record songs that are passionately crafted and that resonate emotionally, politically and spiritually - songs that have touched the hearts and minds of countless fans worldwide.
Accompanying Jackson on the road was his band of fifteen years: Kevin McCormick (bass), Mark Goldenberg (guitars), Mauricio Lewak (drums) and Jeff Young (keyboards, backing vocals), plus vocalists Chavonne Morris and Alethea Mills. It was his first tour with his band here in five years. With a brand new album to showcase, plus a career full of classic songs like ‘Running On Empty’, ‘The Pretender’, ‘Load Out’, ‘Stay’, ‘Late For The Sky’, ‘Rock Me on The Water”, “Doctor My Eyes’ and ‘Take It Easy’ to draw from, Jackson reaffirmed why he is one of music’s most influential and enduring artists.
Fans experienced the more intimate environment of theatre shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, whilst special guests at the larger venues wiereToni Childs and Richard Clapton. Tim Freedman (solo) opened all concerts except Townsville and Cairns.
Best known for her hits ‘Don't Walk Away’, ‘Many Rivers To Cross’ and ‘Stop Your Fussing’, Toni Childs hit the big time in the late Eighties, when her first album ‘Union’ sold more than 500,000 copies in Australia. After a string of further hits, Toni succumbed to a rare illness and has spent most of the past decade recovering. She was thrilled to be back with a wonderful new album ‘Keep The Faith’ (released August 16) which showcases her trademark husky vocals and is looking forward to reconnecting with Australian audiences again.
Two of Australia’s great singer-songwriters and most popular live performers Richard Clapton and Tim Freedman were valued additions to what was a memorable night of great music.
