KATHY GRIFFIN
FEBRUARY 2008
Just in case multiple HBO and Bravo television specials weren't enough, Australian audiences caught Emmy award-winning Kathy Griffin – uncensored and live at The Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Friday 29 February.
Away from the camera’s gaze, she had more stories, more gossip and more of what she shouldn't say but you know you want to hear.
Kathy Griffin, a multi-faceted performer with a rapid-fire wit, is probably best known for her four-year stint on the hit NBC sitcom Suddenly Susan as Brooke Shields’ acerbic colleague, Vickie Groener
Then, in August 2005, Kathy’s reality show, Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List, debuted on Bravo to rave reviews. The show has garnered Kathy with back-to-back Emmy nominations in the Outstanding Reality Program category. In 2007, Kathy won her first Emmy for the second season of her show.
With her comedic reputation firmly established, Kathy has also performed three very successful stand-up specials for Bravo. The first, in 2005, was the hilarious Kathy Griffin….Is Not Nicole Kidman. In May 2006, the second, Strong Black Woman, had critics and audiences raving and the third, Everybody Can Suck It, which aired in June 2007, left fans wanting even more. Kathy’s DVD stand-up special, Allegedly, is in stores now.
Now, Australian audiences have seen Kathy Griffin doing what she does best – in front of a live audience.
US Magazine, December 3rd, 2007 "The Emmy-winning comic's smart, savvy ribbing comes from observing stars in unguarded moments. May she always have VIP access!" (Straight to Hell: 3.5 out of 4 stars)
